Despite family hopes that he might have been released Monday, hospitalized rapper Kanye West reportedly will remain at UCLA Medical Center indefinitely.
According to independent reports by TMZ.com, People and Us Weekly magazines, citing anonymous sources, the 39-year-old West remained unstable Monday after having been admitted a week earlier on what a police report called an involuntary psychiatric hold.
During his stay, West reportedly has suffered from paranoia severe enough that at various points he forbade doctors from touching him and has claimed unspecified people were out to destroy his marriage to reality-TV star Kim Kardashian.
Sources told TMZ the paranoia had been building for months, with others confirming to People that West previously returned to normal within days of such episodes. However, they told the magazine, he has been particularly unnerved since Kardashian was robbed on Oct. 3 at her hotel apartment in Paris while he was performing at the Meadows Festival at Citi Field.
Kardashian, 36, has remained largely with her husband, said Us, reportedly helping to feed him and lying by his side. She had spent hours with him Thanksgiving morning before leaving to join her family’s holiday gathering at the suburban Calabasas home of her half-sister, Kylie Jenner.
